My Dream Workbe

Starting to finally build my dream workbench. I have been looking out for designs and functions that meet what I need for my shop. I finally came across this awesome double flip top bench from @gunflint_designs. It if perfect for what I need. I plan to add some different elements to it but I was so happy to stumble upon it. Here's to starting. Got the legs all planed and jointed. Now to glue up and cut to final dimensions. I'm excited to try those crazy joints he did. Check back for updates!

January 30: Oooow, it's coming together!

February 22: Got the rest of my bench top glued up in sections so I can still run through my planer. Than final glue up. Can't wait to start mortising this thing for the base! So good to be back in the shop!

February 24: Base frame is all glued up except the end pieces for the flip top. Tomorrow I'll glue up my top and cut it to final size then cut my mortises and get it on top!!!

March 5: Got my mortises done (So much to refine and get better at, but hey I did em) and got it on my base. All glued and ready for an overnight dry. Workbench is coming together. Flush trimming the top and sanding and sealing then I need to take a break and get going on a king size bed project!

March 7: Total bummer on the top tenons. Both have pretty bad gaps on the top and bottoms. But, for my first try, I'm proud of myself. I can't wait to invest in some more precision markers and squares. I think that may have helped me here. Routing out halfway and flipping actually turned out pretty precise, but I followed my mark lines and I think they were just too thick. I will fill with epoxy, sand, stain and seal. I bet it will still look pretty! What are your favorite measuring markers???

March 8: It's not done yet but totally functional as an outfeed table for the time being. I must start this king size bed!
